I think it's good they dropped Cream Puff War in '67, leaving it on a high note...
the song (written by Jerry Garcia) had spunk and a tempo they couldn't have maintained after '68...

it would have made an interesting suprise revival in '68 - but after that year, no...
the whole thing about it is how all out balls it is...
some say it was garage punk (except, they were never a "garage" band, maybe a bar band at first.)
and if they'd only put out that one single, it would surely have been on Nuggets.

Anyway, in addition to the 7 known versions, don't forget the hidden one on Rare Cuts & Oddities 1966, though it's a short one (apparently ends when Garcia flubs the words)...
